Today was a day of transition as I took the train from Lisbon to Porto. The trip was a little less than 3 hours and went by pretty quickly. After checking into the hotel, I met up with the group. There are 11 of us in total. We shared some wine and met our guide for today and tomorrow and then he walked us around the town pointing out different sites. We stopped in a park and had Favaito which is a favorite drink of local students. It tasted a bit like honey with a lot of alcohol. We then stopped at a local bar for a pork sandwich and some wine. When we ordered water, they rang a big bell and people boo’d us. We then walked to the Douro River to take in the view before heading to dinner where we had a lot of great food and wine.
