Born July 22, 2014 and every year in mid-July I have to check when his birthday is. For some reason I keep thinking it is the 23rd. His formal name is Sommit’s Swartland Cinsault. How you ask did he get such a funny name. In 2013 on a trip to South Africa, we were at Sadie Family winery drinking a 100% Cinsault wine (Pofadder) with Eben Sadie when the inspiration arose “Let’s get a chocolate lab and name him Cinsault”. The rest is history.
While Cinsault came after Murray, he did get to spend a few years with Maxx and 5 years with Porter. Since then he has been an ‘only’ dog. Cinsault (sometimes referred to as “bean” an a lot of times as “C”) is a true momma’s boy. I can’t sit on the couch without my 80+ lbs lab laying on my lap. My goal was to have him be my first utility dog, unfortunately Cinsault is dog reactive and can cause quite a fuss around other dogs. So instead he trained on scent works which he really enjoyed. He also got his Fast CAT CA title.
