Spain Wine Touring

We can safely say two things; 1) Spanish wine made from grenache, carignan, tempranillo, etc., is amazing, and 2) there is simply not enough time to experience the diverse micro-climates, D.O. / D.O.C. appellations in a single trip.  What was most exciting was our trip, coordinated out of Hotel Rector in Salamanca, to the Castilla y Leon region and a visit to Cabrico.  In 2008 this region received recognition of Salamanca as a its own D.O. and starting that vintage will have the new, distinguished recognition.  Oh yeah, the wine was great, including a little known grape called Refute – very thin skinned, almost Pinot Noir like.
