Today we headed over to Mindo. First stop was a butterfly / hummingbird sanctuary. The butterflies were everywhere and would randomly land on you. the hummingbirds were beautiful. Got some great shots. From there we headed over to zip line. I got all suited up to go and was starting to feel sick to my stomach as everyone started to go up to the platform and take off. They told me to give it a try. If I didn’t like it I could come back. I tried to walk up the platform and as I got to the top, I knew I couldn’t do it. I wanted to face my fear, but nope it took over. So instead I got to do the coffee plantation tour. Way better than zip lining!! Everyone was exhausted when they got back. A few said they were even a little nervous on some of the lines. After eating pizza, we headed over to a waterfall. You had to take a basket over to the trail. One of the individuals with us did not want to go in the basket. As we were discussing the options, our guide found a different path where you didn’t have to take the basket. He also found some Spanish/English speaking individuals to stay with those of us who chose to walk vs riding in the basket. As we started to walk, I mentioned I was from Wisconsin. The boys in the group were Taiwanese and going to UW Madison. Their dad taught english in Taiwan. What a small world!!
After hiking, we headed over to a chocolate shop / restaurant. We took a tour, ate dinner and then did some chocolate tasting. From there we headed back to the hotel. We had two additional individuals join us for New Year’s and then they were heading to Galapagos.
