Whitewater Rafting day today! Got up early as we had a 2 hour drive to the river where we were rafting. The drive was very beautiful! Got fitted for our wetsuits, water shirts, and helmets then headed to the river. As we walked down to the raft our guide gave us instructions. After getting into the raft we received some more instructions and the girls volunteered to do the rescue demos. My demo was showing a rescue on the back of a kayak, where I jumped into the water and then dragged myself up on the back of the kayak. Not sure I would have the strength to do that if I would have actually fallen in. Although, we did have one person fall in and have to be rescued.
We rafted for 1 1/2 hours before lunch encountering level 3 rapids. Lunch was burgers on the beach. Then back to rafting. At one point, we got to a level 4 rapids. Our guid was a little worried, so we ended up doing a little hiking to get to a different spot in the river. Glad we did as we were getting tired and would have probably had a number of people pop out of the raft. We found a calm spot to go back in and we floated for awhile. I decided to go swimming for a bit. It was fun to float, that is until I got cold and had to get out.
On our drive back, we stopped at a roadside restaurant for dinner. We had a whole fish for all of us. It was pretty good! We then stopped at a large waterfalls for pictures. After dropping off some folks that joined us for rafting, we headed back to the hotel. Got back at 9:45 pm. Long day!
