Trip thoughts. As I reflect on the trip I am amazed at how much we did. I was very happy I chose Chaing Mai to start vs starting and ending in Bangkok as Chaing Mai is more my speed, plus I got to see more of Thailand which I did really like. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by Vietnam. I think many Americans still have a negative impression which is unfortunate. The people are so friendly and the food is fantastic. It is just sad how many wars there has been as it is a beautiful place. Cambodia is a very poor country and other than the Angkor Wat temples there isn’t much more to see. Not knowing what to expect in Laos I can say another day would have helped me get a better feel for the country. I have heard many good things and I can see why. The landscape is beautiful and the people are also very friendly. Honestly everyone was very welcoming in all the countries we visited. Since I had little time to explore Bangkok, I don’t have much of an impression other than it is a city with a lot of temples and some fantastic restaurants that I was not able to visit. Such a wonderful experience although I will be happy to get home and be in a familiar place – although “home” isn’t that familiar yet. Glad Thanksgiving is coming up so I can truly go home.
