Made it to Sicily with no flight issues. I had a great driver to O’Hare so the drive went very fast. Troy was already in Europe for work (Amsterdam) and the plan was meet in Amsterdam, fly to Rome, meet the Danola’s then fly to Catania. Which we did. The Danola’s had been in Italy for a few days so I was the only one with jet lag.
We found our house with little issue. The owner of the house had stocked the refrigerator with a variety of anti-pastas (cheese, olives, sausage) and Troy had ordered wine to be delivered in advance of our arrival. We decided to have appetizers on the balcony (great view, see picture), but then the bugs came out.
There is a great restaurant, “Ristorante Castelluccio” at the driveway entrance to our villa area so later in the evening we ordered take away pizza. Tomorrow we are contemplating a trip around Etna to Bronte for the Pistachio Festival.
