In 2012 we decided on Maui. We later learned that the county of Maui is actually made up of a few of the islands in the archipelago including the islands of Kaho’olawe, Lana’i, Maui and Moloka’i. Our house rental was on the West side of Maui overlooking the waterway between Maui and Lana’i which made for excellent whale watching. We will go back and take in Lana’i with Maui next time.
