This morning was an early start leaving at 5 am and heading over to Angkor Wat via tuk tuk to see the sun rise over the temple. Unfortunately, between the rain, all the things in my hands and the various people, I didn’t get good pictures nor did I take in the beauty around me as much as I should have. Once I took out my phone and the sun started to come up so I could put the flashlight away, I was able to get a couple ok shots.
After the sun rose, we spent another two hours at the temple. It is the largest of the temples and even the largest religious temple in the world. We got to climb up to the third floor which was really cool to see the views. I actually could have spent a few more hours there just walking around and seeing everything. I also would like to see the sunrise again so I can take in the beauty and pause and reflect, but no such opportunity.
We were back to the hotel by 8:30 am so we had breakfast and then spent some time at the pool before lunch then our flight to Laos. Lunch was near the hotel and was another good meal, then it was off to the airport. I had a window seat on the plane so I got some beautiful pictures of the sunset.
When we got to our hotel which is only 15 minutes from the airport, we were greeted by the staff and given iced tea and snacks. We were also warned about the mosquitos. We have mosquito netting around the bed and bug spray in the room to keep them away. After getting the room orientation I had a cocktail at the bar with some of my fellow travelers.
