Last day of excursions. The day started with the sun out and 48 degrees, but by the time we started out zodiac tour the sun had disappeared. That was ok as I could take my sunglasses off. We were out for an hour looking at the glaciers at Skontorp Cove in Paradise Harbour. We also saw the blue eyed cormorant as well as gentoo penguins. Towards the end of the hour we also saw a crab seal. The guide said they are the friendliest of the seals. Then as we were about to get off the zodiac, there was a large avalanche on one of the mountains. The snow plume was quite big.

During our down time before lunch I was going to hangout in the library, but there was too many people and the music was loud. So I grabbed a couple cookies and a latte and went up on 8. The views continue to be beautiful. Just before we were going to leave, two whales jumped out of the water in front of us. They did it a few more times. Amazing!

The afternoon was a landing at Useful Island. Mainly gentoo penguins, but we also saw an Adélie penguin and some Chinstrap penguins as well as a Weddell seal. Since it was our last outing we hung out as long as we could taking it all in. When we got back I sat outside for about 45 minutes talking in the view and getting my last video of the penguins. Before dinner we hung out by the bar and before going in Barbara saw some breaching whales. How cool, twice in one day.

After dinner we began our trek through the Drake passage. It is supposed to be even calmer than when we came. We will see. They have told us we should be getting into Ushuaia on the 17th. We are scheduled for Covid tests in the am from Vantage and then PCR tests from the Port Authority in the evening when we get in. Let’s hope we can get off the boat!
